  • 16.5 ounces sugar cookie dough softened, store-bought sugar cookie dough, you can use a 16 ounce pack of dough, or even a 17 ounce dry pack of sugar cookie dough that you add the ingredients according to the package. Allow refrigerated dough to sit on the counter for about 20 minutes before spreading it on the pan to make it easier to spread. If you leave the cookie dough out too long, it can
  • 12 ounces cream cheese softened, I prefer full fat cream cheese for this recipe
  • ¾ cup butter softened, salted
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 pound strawberries fresh 1 pound is about 4 cups of whole strawberries. I don’t recommend using frozen strawberries as they will get mushy.
  • 6 ounces blueberries fresh, 6 ounces is about 3/4 cups. I don’t recommend using frozen blueberries as they will get mushy.

If you prefer to make the sugar cookie dough from scratch, you totally can. Use the recipe for my easy frosted sugar cookie bars and use the frosting from this recipe.

How To Make Flag Fruit Pizza

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a 10 x 15 inch rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, or oil the pan generously.
  2. Rub a teaspoon of oil onto your hands and spread cookie dough out evenly on the greased pan. This will keep the dough from sticking and make it easier to spread. It will feel like there isn’t quite enough, but trust the process and keep working it into the pan until it is spread evenly.

Fruit Pizza Variation Ideas

Fresh raspberries or fresh cherries with the pits removed can be swapped for the strawberry slices. Raspberries do taste delicious but don’t tend to hold up as well as strawberries in the heat if the dessert will be outside at a potluck or bbq. Cherries do hold up pretty well, I would remove the pits and slice them in half. Red grapes can also be sliced and swapped.

Blackberries can be swapped for the blueberries.

Can I Use Anything Else To Decorate Besides Fruit?

You can use candy instead of the blueberries and strawberries. M&M’s are a great way to fill in both the red and blue decorations. Red licorice, gummy red berries or any soft red gummy candy could be used for the red stripes. Any soft blue candy could be used for the blue rectangle.

You can also simply decorate with red, white and blue frosting, simply double the frosting recipe.

Sprinkles can also be used to decorate the blue and red parts of the cake, but you may need a few more then you think to make it look more solid in color.

Can I make This Fruit Pizza Ahead Of Time?

You can make this about 12 hours in advance. Any more then 12 hours and I make everything else except for the strawberries, and add the sliced strawberries right before serving. This helps the strawberries to taste extra fresh.

How Long Will Flag Fruit Pizza Last?

This fruit pizza does taste best if enjoyed within 12-24 hours because of the fresh fruit. Store any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator to keep the fruit fresher.

Notes

Let the sugar cookie dough soften on the counter for about 20 minutes before you try to spread it on the pan.
16-16.5 ounces of cookie dough work for this recipe. Even the 17 ounces bags of dry cookie dough mix could be mixed according ot the package and easily be used for this recipe.
If you don’t have a frosting bag, you can put the frosting in a freezer zip-top bag. Then cut the tip of the bag and use the frosting to pipe stripes of frosting between the strawberries.
You can also gently spoon and smooth frosting between rows to thicken the stripes and make them more even.
